Overview - Afghan Hound
They were originally used to hunt large prey in the deserts and mountainous regions of Afghanistan. This is why the ong double coat comes in handy - It keeps them warm for a long time. They can run quick and for a long distance. They were courageous enough to keep even a Leopard at bay until hunters on horseback caught up with the dog. They can think and hunt independently.
Afghan Hound training
They can be challenging to train because of their independent nature. Training them can take lost of time and patience, for this reason house training is not recommended. Consistent obedience training is necessary and positive reinforcement methods work best.
