Overview - Beauceron
This French herding breed is known in Europe for centuries. Allegedly this is one of the breed which was used to create the Doberman Pinscher. It shows close relations with the long-haired herding dog, the Briard. They share the trait of having double dewclaws on their hind legs. Both of these were used to herd sheep and cattle. They served in both world wars as messengers, supply transporters, landminde detection dogs, search dogs, police dogs and rescue dogs.
Beauceron training
Beaucerons, as other large dog breeds need socialization at their puppy-age in order to ensure that they will not grow aggressive later on. If they are kept a lot among kind and loving people, they will learn the difference between the good and bad guys out there. Without this, they can become fearful of strangers which can lead to defensive biting.
