Overview - Irish Setter
Originally developed as a bird dog, the Irish Setter retains the drive and energy of his forefathers. There's nothing they enjoy more than doing new things and going to new places, especially if those places involve birds. Although they're not seen as much in the field as some other sporting breeds, their hunting instinct is still strong. Once they're trained on birds, they never need a refresher course.
Irish Setter Training
They are intelligent yet independent dogs. It requires much patience and consistency to train them. They are slow to mature, so you'll basically have a puppy in the body of a mature dog. Their activity level never seem to lower.
