Overview - Rottweiler
The breed originated in Germany where it was used to drive cattles, pull carts and guarding tasks. Their heritage can be seen in their wide chests and muscles. They are calm and confident and typically aloof toward strangers but never timid or fearful. They usually show a "wait-and-see" attitude when confronted with new people and situations.
Rottweiler training
For Rottweilers it's essential to start training them early on. By channeling their power and protectiveness and providing early socialization, firm, fair consistent training and leadership and a regular job to perform they will become great companions. However, if you miss this part they can grow dangerous bullies and overly protective rather than becoming companionable guardians.
